I realize that if I don’t make the time to write here, this will never take off. So here I am with blog post #3. If you know me, you know that I love makeup. Sephora had its 20% off VIB sale last weekend and my order came in a few days ago, so I’m going to share my first (and most definitely not the last) haul post!

First up is Kat Von D’s Lock-It Powder Foundation in Medium 62. I first bought this product in the summer because I wanted something lightweight for the hot weather. I was impressed that I could put this on, go to work outdoors in the 40 degree weather, and it would still be on my face at the end of the day. It made my skin look flawless and it wasn’t drying. I even got compliments on my skin when I started using it! It took me just a month to hit pan on it. I’m interested to see how this holds up in the cold winter months.
Next I got Benefit’s Gimme Brow in the shade 5. I got a free sample of this thanks to Benefit’s Facebook page a while back, but it was in the shade 3. It was a little bit lighter than my hair, but I found it still worked. I’m excited to try it in the shade that’s more fit to my darker eyebrows.
The Beauty Blender is something that I’ve always wanted to try but I could never justify buying it because it’s pretty pricey for a sponge. But I finally caved and I picked up this one because it came with a mini version of the Blender Cleanser Solid soap. I have the full size version of the soap and it works amazing to clean my brushes. I’ve tried the Sephora dupe of the Beauty Blender, and now that I have the real thing, I can’t wait to see if it’s worth the hype. [Update: I used it twice and while washing it, it tore. Probably won’t rebuy :(]
Lastly, I got one of Sephora’s Colourful Face Powders in the shade 21 Jubilant. I’m not on board with highlighting, but since this was on sale I thought I’d give it a try. It’s a peachy-coloured illuminator. I swatched it on my hand and it looks like I’d have to use a couple layers of it for it to show. Maybe not best suited for my skin tone, but I can probably make it work with some practice.
And since I ordered online, I got some free samples! I’m most excited to try out Benefit’s The Porefessional because I’ve heard nothing but good things about it.
Normally when Sephora has these sales I never really plan out what I’m going to get so the majority of it is just impulse buying. This time I looked at what I already own and based what to buy on what I need. That and I’ve got a few big things coming up so I need to be a little more conscious of my spending! It’s definitely too easy to spend too much on makeup lol. For now though, I think I have plenty of products to keep me looking pretty 😉
Have you tried any of these products? Or have any recommendations on what I should try out next? Let me know!
