Normally I stick to buying makeup at stores in person, but every now and then I see a makeup brand online and I get curious to try it out. This was the case with Girlactik Beauty. On Facebook groups based on makeup and beauty, I’d seen the brand name floating around. I’ve also watched a few videos on Youtube about Girlactik with pretty positive reactions.
Here’s what I bought:
- Matte Lip Paint Duo in Playful / Divine
- Matte Lip Paint Duo in Blossom / Sweet
- Star Blush in Milan
- Star Powder in Lace (which came free since my order was over $70)
The Matte Lip Paint Duos are a new addition to the Girlactik collection. While looking at the website, I couldn’t decide which colours to buy of the regular sized Matte Lip Paints. So instead, I picked up two of the duos since that way I’ll get more variety.
My Thoughts on Girlactik Beauty
Since receiving my order two weeks ago, these Matte Lip Paints are all I’ve been wearing. After trying out each of the colours, I find myself reaching for the Playful/Divine combo. Both colours are nude pinks, with Playful having more of a brown tint. I like Divine best as its a lighter pink and can be used for everyday. I like to put on Playful for a more dramatic look. The other duo I got was the Blossom/Sweet combo. Blossom is a pinkish red, whereas Sweet is a light pink.
Compared to other liquid lipsticks, I find these Girlactik ones work well. They are comfortable to wear. However, if I know that my lips are chapped, I’ll just throw on some lip balm before putting the lip paint on. They dry quick, but with enough time that you can fix any mistakes that might happen. I’ve been wearing these to work, where I eat fairly greasy foods (bad I know) and I find that these stay on for the most part. They just fade on the inner part of my lips but that’s natural. Nothing a touch up can’t fix.
I’ve only started using the face powders that I picked up (the Star Blush and Star Powder) but already I can see that I’m going to love them. All I did was very lightly dip my finger in the Star Powder (since its loose) and wow is it pigmented. I’m still experimenting with both of them but maybe in the future I’ll share another post with my thoughts.
One thing I’d have to say about Girlactik is that their prices are quite high. I’ve heard that they are sold in drug stores in the United States, but these prices are more something you’d expect to see at Sephora. Also the products are a bit smaller than I expected. Especially with their high prices. However I wouldn’t necessarily call this a drawback since I am actually using the products on a regular basis.
