I’ve taken the past couple weeks to take a small break from writing and blogging. I found myself thinking of the blog as a chore. I lost the will to write – I was losing interest in the topics I was writing about. But now it’s June, and I’m thinking I’m going to make some changes around here.
From this point forward, the blog will have more of a lifestyle focus, specifically Toronto lifestyle. This summer I plan to do plenty of things in and around the city. So, now I’ll write about the things I do as they come up – the food I eat, the sights I see, the places I go, the food I eat (did I mention that already?).
In case you didn’t know, I’m a total foodie
This June, I’ll be going to Taste of Toronto and Taco Fest. Last weekend I attended Brunch Fest and it was delicious! I’ll be taking plenty of pictures of everything I try.
Something else that I will be doing is sharing any food recipes that I try at home. I already have a couple of things in mind that I want to write about (next post maybe?).
I’m excited for this new blog direction. I can’t wait to share all of my adventures (food related or not) with you this summer!
Lucky me got sick earlier this week, meaning I got to spend more time at home and work on cross stitching. I haven’t forgotten about my cross stitch challenge (new post about that will come next week, promise!). But today I wanted to share some of my favourites of the week. Most of my recent blog posts have been about blogging so I thought, hey why not start a new series where I share some of the things I’m liking this week.
With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I thought I’d take a look back at one of my favourite TV shows – How I Met Your Mother. The show focuses on Ted Mosby who tells his son and daughter the story of how he met their mother. Ted recounts all the stories of his friends (Marshall, Lily, Robin and Barney) and past girlfriends. The show had everything in it – comedy, drama, and definitely romance.
In this post, I’ll share my top 5 favourite episodes, in no particular order. Picking from 9 seasons was no easy task. If you’ve never watched the show (or never finished the series, in which case what are you waiting for?!), this is your warning that this post contains spoilers.
Announcing my new name change!
As much as I wanted to stick with my old URL, I felt like it wasn’t really me. Hence I felt the need to rebrand. So I got to thinking about what I could use for my new name. I realize since I already have “KathleenCG_” as my handle on my Instagram, Twitter, AND Pinterest, it only makes sense to have it as my website/blog as well.
I want to focus mainly on crafts and beauty. However I’m not afraid to branch out and write about other things too, such as music, travel, and lifestyle. My professional work will still have its pages. This is a place for employers to see my work and also get a feel for my personality by reading my blog. My hope is to have a blog that anyone can read and will enjoy. By using my name as the URL, it gives me the chance to switch things up should I decide to change directions in the future.
When the idea to rebrand hit, the excitement was high to get everything up and running asap. But I realized it’s best to take the time to really perfect things. I really don’t want to have to go through the process of rebranding (again). I had a checklist of things to do, and the launch was not going to happen until everything was completed off the list.
This blog will be a big commitment to me this 2017. I’m very excited to see where it goes! What are your goals for this year?
Don’t know about you but my holiday season is always so busy! Hope you all had a great holiday. I had a lovely Christmas spent with family. Santa brought me a portable JBL Bluetooth speaker (this is an affiliate link) and some mobile lens for my phone. Since then I’ve been working away at the World Junior Hockey Championship. Now that I have a little bit of downtime to write, here I am to discuss the year that was 2016.
Aside from the many unfortunate deaths in pop culture, 2016 had its ups and downs (as does every year). I went on vacation for the first time. At work, I finally feel accepted into a community and made great new friends because of it. I started to cross stitch. I also went through some personal relationship issues throughout the summer but came out a stronger person on the other side. Something I learned there was that at the end of the day, you are the only person who can pick yourself up off the floor. Loved ones can help make the hard times easier, but you need to be able to help yourself first.
Second most important lesson is to NEVER blow your nose while flying in an airplane. I caught a cold right before I left California and my nose was running on the flight, so I blew it a bit before landing. My ears popped and my head felt like it was going to explode. I promise I’m not just being dramatic. After some research, I read it’s because of the pressure in the cabin. This can probably be very useful to those who fly frequently so I thought I’d share.
I didn’t have a list of resolutions for 2016, but my main goal was to have a full time job by the end of the year. Seeing as I didn’t complete that this year, that’s going to be my goal for 2017. Hopefully this blog can help me out on that front. In January, I plan to take the time to rebrand – change the name, new logo and header, maybe get business cards done.
For now, we have one last day left in 2016… let’s make it count! See you in 2017 🙂
